End-of-Life Issues
Alison is a founding member of VEOLI, Visualizing End-of-Issues, a collective of visual practitioners specializing in helping people through the myriad issues surrounding end-of-life (advance care planning, grief, navigating complex medical pathways, vigil planning, memorial services, and so on). We understand that death is not an easy topic in western culture and we aim, with compassion and empathy, to make it easier for the dying and those who love them to communicate.
Listen-ink partnered with Yolo Hospice (now YoloCares) to bring the message of Atul Gawande's Being Mortal to a five-county region in Northern California. Yolo Hospice showed the Frontline documentary followed by moderated conversations at different tables. Alison Kent captured the content of the documentary and the conversations. A collection of the charts from many of these events was exhibited at Yolo Hospice in April 2017.
